HC_Bowl

Growing HC (Hemianthus callitrichoides "Cuba") emersed was on my list of experiments for long time. Few weeks ago I had some spare time to start this experiment. I used a bowl with sliding cover for this experiment. Knob attached to the bowl cover was removed to create a hole for ventilation. Also the sliding cover helps to maintain the level of humidity required for growing HC.

Lighting

Lighting - One 30W T8 Tube which is shared by my Wabi-Kusa setup and couple of these bowls.

Growth was slow but I am happy with the growth as HC is growing healthy and I need to water them once in two weeks. Because of the sliding cover high level of humidity can be easily maintained and also water needs to be added less frequently. Peat Moss also helps to keep ADA soil moist. These bowls can be replaced with any other shaped bowl, vessel or cubes with cover to maintain the humidity. Humidity is essential for HC to grow healthy. Hope this article will help you to start experimenting with this beautiful plant.
